I am a former police officer, crime analyst, behavioral profiler, police trainer, and legal and administrative assistant to numerous local City departments. I hold a black belt in Aikido. In the past, I’ve had to make immediate decisions for people in life-threatening situations. I applied the law, martial arts principles, and life lessons in a logical and ethical manner, helping victims gain a sense of organization and control over their lives.
I went to school in the deep South during a time of global unrest, when streaking was a national competition, and when women had to fight every step of the way to secure a place in the professional world. My family always thought I was a bit odd because I was a woman who liked science and math and loved reading science fiction.
I wrote a book titled Discover the Life You Want to Live, based on my career and writing experiences. (Published and live on Amazon.com)
I started this blog to share my musings and provide updates on forthcoming publications. I wanted to delve further into this medium to inspire people to solve their own problems, find inspiration, write their own stories, and mentor others with their newfound ideas.
My journey into fiction is the publication (also on Amazon) of the Caitlin Ferguson Mystery Series, set in Colorado. Silver Element and Book II, Silver Storm, are published and live on Amazon. These women are reflections of the cool characters I’ve met before, and they help Caitlin solve assaults and murders, track down drug-dealing gangsters, and generally stir up a whole lot of trouble in the communities of Boulder and Louisville. Silver Lore, Book III, was released in December 2025, and this wraps up the story. It is fifteen years in the future from the second book, and covers a lot of territory, magic and mystery, combined with a science fiction twist, to the tale.
It was fun renewing old friendships with some fellow police officers and crime analysts, studying the great books of Western writers, and basing the book on local characters and crimes that jogged my memory of past work.
I also published the two books in the Silver Rangers Mini-Series. The first book is about a character named Buck Jones. Caitlin and her crew meet him in the Grand Canyon in Silver Storm. This is a short, fun romance and science fiction story based on a local character I knew who shared his life history with me. The second book in this series, Frankie & Jamie, details their adventure and romance in the Grand Canyon – characters we also met in Silver Element. The final book in this series, Rudy Gordon, will come out soon. These books will conclude the story of the fantastic characters the women met in the Grand Canyon during their journey. I am excited to wrap up this series and move on to something new.
Thanks to all the incredible artists who helped me create the cover artwork. Thanks to all the avid readers and the entire publishing community for supporting my writing.
